The Garmin gWind™ Wireless 2 Transducer (Part Number 010-01616-00) is an easy-to-install, high-precision wind sensor designed for sailing vessels and powerboats requiring accurate wind data without the hassle of running cables through the mast. Featuring Nexus® 3-bladed twin-fane technology, it delivers accurate apparent wind speed (AWS) and apparent wind angle (AWA) even in light wind conditions. The transducer communicates wirelessly over a 2.4 GHz ANT® signal directly to compatible Garmin marine displays, wind instruments (such as the GNX™ 20 or GMI™ 20), or chartplotters, eliminating mast-cable drag and simplifying installation.
Powered by an integrated solar panel mounted on the sensor arm with an internal rechargeable battery, the gWind™ Wireless 2 ensures uninterrupted continuous operation day and night. Housed in a ruggedized, weather-resistant chassis with an IPX6/IPX7 waterproof rating, it includes an integrated solar panel charging circuit that can sustain operation for up to 3 years without battery replacement under normal light conditions. The transducer mounts securely at the masthead using the included bracket and pairs seamlessly into the vessel’s NMEA 2000® network via a connected GND™ 10 black box bridge or compatible Garmin GNX Wind instrument, delivering reliable wind metrics for SailAssist and autopilot functions.
