The SKIPPER DL2 is an advanced dual-axis Doppler Speed Log (DSL) designed to provide highly accurate vessel speed, distance, and motion information for commercial ships. Using the Doppler principle, the system measures both Speed Through Water (STW) and Speed Over Ground (SOG) in the longitudinal and transverse directions, enabling precise navigation, maneuvering, and docking operations.
The DL2 features a modern 9-inch color touch-screen display with an intuitive user interface, allowing operators to monitor vessel speed, distance traveled, sea current, and sea temperature in real time. It also includes docking functionality with optional three-axis measurements, making it suitable for vessels that require enhanced maneuvering accuracy in ports and restricted waters.
The system supports LAN and NMEA 0183 communication, allowing seamless integration with ECDIS, radar, Integrated Bridge Systems (IBS), Voyage Data Recorders (VDR), autopilots, and other navigation equipment. Automatic calibration, built-in diagnostics, programmable display pages, and comprehensive alarm functions ensure reliable operation while reducing maintenance requirements.
The SKIPPER DL2 complies with IMO performance standards, IEC 60945, IEC 61162 (NMEA 0183), and is MED-B Wheelmarked, making it suitable for installation on SOLAS-class vessels. It is widely used on cargo ships, tankers, offshore support vessels, ferries, and passenger ships where accurate speed and motion information is essential for safe navigation and efficient vessel operations.
