The Marine Data MD68HR is an oversized, high-precision dial-type NMEA steering repeater display manufactured in the United Kingdom by Marine Data Systems. Specifically designed for main helmsman steering positions, central bridge consoles, and large vessel wheelhouses, the MD68HR provides exceptional readability across long distances within the bridge layout.
The display features a large-format 250mm (approx. 10-inch) concentric dual-scale compass dial card (a 360° outer scale combined with a high-resolution 10° expanded inner scale) delivering 0.1° heading resolution. Built into a heavy-duty aluminum alloy enclosure, the MD68HR automatically decodes standard NMEA 0183 serial heading data ($HDT, $HDG, $HDM, $THS) from shipboard gyrocompasses, satellite compasses, or magnetic heading sensors. Variable red LED dial illumination ensures glare-free night-watch operations on the bridge without compromising night vision.
Key Features:
• Large 250mm High-Visibility Dial: Oversized dual-concentric compass card engineered for maximum legibility from long distances at the primary steering position.
• High-Accuracy Dual-Scale Display: Concentric dial layout providing 360° outer and 10° expanded inner scales for precise heading readings and course keeping.
• Universal NMEA 0183 Interfacing: Decodes serial NMEA 0183 data ($HDT, $HDG, $HDM, $THS) with automatic baud rate sensing.
• Variable Red Night Illumination: Dimmable red LED dial lighting controlled locally via rotary knob or remotely via NMEA commands.
• Versatile Installation Formats: Supports console panel flush mounting, bulkhead mounting, or overhead trunnion mounting.
