The Jotron Tron AIS-SART is a compact GMDSS AIS Search & Rescue Transmitter designed for use on survival craft such as lifeboats and liferafts. It uses an internal GPS antenna to determine the survivor’s position and transmits that position through the international AIS channels.
The unit is detected by AIS Class A and Class B equipment, allowing nearby ships, SAR vessels and aircraft equipped with suitable AIS receivers to identify the distress position. Position information is updated approximately once per minute.
