The JRC JHS-7 is a legacy, heavy-duty portable VHF radiotelephone specifically engineered for on-scene, life-saving communications. While the newer JHS-207 has moved toward a more compact, digital interface, the JHS-7 remains respected for its mechanical ruggedness and “one-handed” analog operation, making it ideal for the high-stress environment of survival craft and rescue boats.
It is designed in strict compliance with GMDSS carriage requirements under the SOLAS convention.
-
Thirteen Operating Channels: Includes the primary safety Channel 16 (156.800 MHz) plus 12 additional single-frequency channels. Channel 16 can be instantly accessed via a dedicated one-touch independent switch.
-
Mechanical Ruggedness: Built to withstand a 1-meter drop onto a hard surface. The chassis is constructed from sunlight-resistant materials to prevent degradation during long-term exposure on open decks.
-
Single-Handed Operation: The control knobs and rotary dial are strategically arranged so that a user can operate the volume, squelch, and channel selection with one hand—a critical feature for rescue operations.
-
Watertight Integrity: Designed to be fully waterproof, ensuring reliable performance in heavy rain or high-humidity maritime conditions.
-
Low Power Consumption: Utilizes a specialized “sleep mode” to conserve battery life, guaranteeing more than 8 hours of operation time under a standard 1:9 duty cycle.
-
Stable PLL Synthesizer: Features a high-reliability Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) frequency synthesizer for precise frequency stability within 10 ppm.
