The JRC NJ-3310 is a high-power S-Band Junction Circulator designed specifically for maritime radar systems operating in the 3.05 GHz range (ITU allocated S-Band). It acts as a non-reciprocal traffic controller for microwave energy, ensuring that the high-power signal from the transmitter goes only to the antenna, and the weak return echoes from the antenna go only to the receiver.
1. Functional Role in the Radar System
The NJ-3310 is the “heart” of the duplexer system. It allows the radar to use a single antenna for both transmitting and receiving.
-
Port 1 (Input): Connected to the Magnetron (Transmitter). The 30kW+ pulse enters here.
-
Port 2 (Output/Input): Connected to the Antenna. Power from Port 1 is directed here to be radiated. Incoming echoes from targets also enter here.
-
Port 3 (Output): Connected to the Receiver Unit (via the TL378A Limiter). Incoming echoes from Port 2 are directed here, while any leakage from Port 1 is minimized to protect the receiver.
