The FURUNO FAR-2827 RTR-079 is a high-performance X-Band Transceiver/Receiver unit that serves as the “heart” of the FAR-2827 series radar systems. It is designed for large commercial vessels (10,000 GT and above) and complies with strict IMO and SOLAS standards.
The RTR-079 is the “Up-mast” transceiver module, meaning the electronics that generate and process the radar signal are located within the gearbox at the antenna base. This design minimizes signal loss between the antenna and the transceiver.
Function: It manages the 25 kW pulse generation, signal reception, and initial digital processing before sending the data to the processor unit (RPU-013) on the bridge.
Key Technology: Uses sophisticated signal processing like Multi-Level Quantization (MLQ) and Echo Stretch to provide clear target detection even in heavy sea or rain clutter.
