The Simrad HS60 is a compact, maintenance-free GPS compass that serves as a highly accurate alternative to traditional magnetic fluxgate compasses and standalone GPS receivers. By using dual internal antennas and integrated sensors, it provides stable heading and position data even when the vessel is stationary.
The HS60 is an all-in-one “smart antenna” that delivers not just position, but also heading, heave, roll, and pitch information. It is designed to interface seamlessly with Simrad autopilots, navigation displays, and AIS systems over an NMEA 2000 network.
Key Features
-
Dual Antenna Design: Uses two internal GPS antennas to calculate heading. This eliminates the need for a magnetic compass and is immune to magnetic interference from the ship’s hull or electrical equipment.
-
Integrated Gyro & Tilt Sensors: Onboard sensors provide faster heading updates and allow the unit to maintain an accurate heading for up to 3 minutes during a temporary GPS signal loss.
-
10 Hz Update Rate: High-speed processing provides smooth data for fast-moving powerboats and ensures precise radar overlays and autopilot performance.
-
Plug-and-Play: A single NMEA 2000 connection provides power and data, removing the need for a separate “black box” processor.
-
COAST™ Technology: Allows the receiver to use old differential correction data for up to 40 minutes during signal outages without significant loss in position quality.
