The Matrox DualHead2Go (Analog Edition) is an external multi-display expansion module (graphics “splitter”) that allows you to drive two monitors from a single VGA output on a computer.
-
It is not a full graphics card; instead, it leverages your system’s existing GPU and manipulates the signal to “span” across two outputs. Useful for setups where the system has only one display output (VGA) but you need dual displays (e.g. for productivity, control systems, cockpit displays, etc.).
-
Because it is analog, image quality depends on signal integrity (cable quality, length, shielding)
-
The resolution “2560 × 1024” is the combined resolution across the two monitors (i.e. each ~1280 × 1024)
-
Both monitors must operate at the same resolution (i.e. matching refresh / modes)
-
In “clone mode”, the same image is sent to both monitors
-
It can’t improve GPU performance — it’s a signal distribution / splitting device
-
If you connect a DualHead2Go, the system sees it as a single large monitor and the module divides it internally into two displays (using EDID tricks)
