JRC JHS-180 is a Class A Universal Automatic Identification System (AIS) designed for SOLAS-compliant commercial vessels. It automatically exchanges vessel navigation information such as ship identity, position, course, speed, heading and voyage-related data between AIS-equipped ships and shore stations through dedicated VHF channels. This improves situational awareness, collision avoidance and overall safety of navigation.
The JHS-180 consists mainly of the NTE-180 AIS Transponder and NCM-722 AIS Controller, with associated junction/connection boxes. The transponder incorporates AIS transmission/reception and DSC receiving functions, while the controller provides a 5-inch STN LCD and 23-key operating panel for viewing vessel information, configuring AIS data and managing alarms.
The system provides two AIS receivers, a DSC receiver and interfaces for navigation sensors including GPS/GNSS, gyrocompass, speed log and rate-of-turn equipment. It can also output AIS information to radar, ECDIS and other bridge systems through IEC 61162 interfaces.
