The Icom SP-24 is a compact, heavy-duty external communication speaker manufactured by Icom Inc. in Japan. Designed specifically for shipboard radio consoles, wheelhouses, and commercial communication desks, the SP-24 is supplied as the primary external speaker for Icom’s long-range MF/HF SSB transceivers—including the IC-M802, IC-M801E, and GM800 series—as well as various VHF marine units.
Housed in an impact-resistant, square ABS enclosure measuring 110 x 110 mm, the SP-24 delivers 5 Watts of rated input power (7 Watts maximum). It is acoustically tuned to highlight human speech frequencies, delivering clear, intelligible voice reception over ambient engine room and bridge noise. Featuring a pre-attached 4.5-meter audio cable with a standard 3.5 mm mono mini-plug, the SP-24 allows flexible mounting anywhere across navigation consoles and bridge overheads.
Key Features:
• Clear Voice Intelligibility: Speech-frequency tuned drive unit optimizes vocal clarity for maritime SSB and VHF transmissions.
• 7W Peak Power Handling: Rated for 5 Watts nominal input and 7 Watts maximum power handling to ensure clear, high-volume bridge audio.
• Extremely Compact Footprint: Square 110 mm face panel allows easy flush or surface console installation in crowded bridge environments.
• Extended Cabling Range: Supplied with a pre-wired 4.5 m (14.7 ft) shielded audio cable for seamless routing through console trays.
