The Garmin GMR™ 1236 xHD3 (K10-00012-27) is a commercial-grade open-array marine radar system that pairs a 12 kW magnetron pedestal with a 6-foot open-array antenna to deliver target detection up to 72 nautical miles. Featuring a narrow 1.1-degree horizontal beamwidth, it provides fine target separation and resolution of small objects, shorelines, and distant weather cells. The radar operates with dual rotation speeds of 24 and 48 RPM for rapid display refresh rates on compatible Garmin chartplotters. Digital signal processing features include scan-averaging technology to filter out sea clutter and surface noise, angular target-size processing to improve object definition, True Echo Trails for historical target movement tracking, and Dual Range mode for simultaneous short- and long-range monitoring on a split display. The system also supports Auto Bird Gain, MARPA target tracking for up to 30 targets, radar chart overlay, and Dynamic Auto Gain and Sea Filtering. Housed in a heavy-duty enclosure rated for 100-knot winds, it operates on 10 to 32 VDC power systems, connects via the Garmin Marine Network (or Garmin BlueNet™), carries an IPX6 water resistance rating, and is supplied as a complete bundle with 15-meter power and network cabling.
