The Icom MXP-5000 is the central black-box Main Processor Unit (MPU) for the Icom MarineCommander navigation and multi-function display system, manufactured by Icom Inc. in Japan. Serving as the primary data processing hub for medium-to-large commercial vessels, workboats, and motor yachts, the MXP-5000 centralizes charting, radar, fish finder, video monitoring, and radio communications telemetry into a unified bridge distribution network.
Engineered with dual display controller capability, a single MXP-5000 processor can simultaneously drive two MXD-5000 12.1-inch Multi-Function Displays (MFDs) with independent user control. For larger vessels requiring multiple bridge stations, two MXP-5000 main processor units can be linked together via a inter-processor data cable to support up to four independent MFD displays while sharing connected sensors—such as MXR-5000 radar scanners, MXF-5000 fish finder sounder modules, MXG-5000 GPS receivers, and Icom VHF/AIS transceivers.
Key Features:
• Dual-Display Independent Controller: Supports two MXD-5000 MFDs per processor unit with independent page layouts, chart panning, and control operations.
• Dual-Processor System Scalability: Two MXP-5000 main processor units can be networked to support up to four independent bridge display stations.
• Multi-Sensor Module Integration: Connects seamlessly with MXR-5000 series radar scanners, MXF-5000 dual-frequency fish finders, and MXG-5000 GPS receivers.
• Comprehensive Radio & NMEA Interfacing: Integrates with Icom VHF transceivers and MA-500TR AIS transponders via NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 bus lines.
• Multi-Channel Video Input: Equipped with composite video inputs (PAL/NTSC) for engine room surveillance cameras, thermal night vision cameras, and security monitoring.
