The Garmin GMR™ 18 HD3 (010-02843-00) is a compact 18-inch high-definition magnetron dome radar featuring 4 kW of transmit power and a maximum scanning range of 36 nautical miles. Designed for tight mounting spaces on powerboats and sailboats, it delivers target separation with 8-bit true-color presentation and short-range detection down to 20 meters. Advanced digital processing capabilities include Dynamic Auto Gain and Dynamic Sea Filter, which automatically adjust clutter controls based on environmental conditions. The radar supports MARPA target tracking, chartplotter radar overlays, dual-radar networking, and a timed transmit mode to optimize power management. Operating at a fixed scanner speed of 24 RPM with low-noise operation, it runs on 11 to 32 VDC power systems, connects via the Garmin Marine Network, and carries an IPX7 waterproof rating.
