The Furuno FELCOM 18 is a marine Inmarsat-C Mobile Earth Station (MES) designed for GMDSS communication and safety applications. It provides two-way store-and-forward data communication between vessels and shore stations.
The system supports distress alerting, EGC/SafetyNET, FleetNET, telex, e-mail, fax, data reporting and polling. It also supports LRIT and can be configured for SSAS (Ship Security Alert System) applications. The terminal incorporates an EGC receiver and uses SD card media for data recording. An optional GPS receiver, printer, AC/DC power supply, alarm unit, and distress alert unit are available.
