The Icom AH-740 is a compact, relay-driven automatic HF tuning antenna manufactured by Icom Inc. in Japan. Purpose-built for commercial, naval, and maritime mobile HF communications, the AH-740 provides wideband frequency coverage from 2.5 MHz to 30 MHz (expandable down to 2.2 MHz with the optional AH-5NV NVIS kit).
Featuring high-speed relay switching, the AH-740 achieves typical memory retuning in approximately 150 milliseconds, allowing rapid channel switching across marine SSB bands. It is housed in an IP55 dust- and water-jet-resistant enclosure built to MIL-STD-810-G environmental standards, ensuring reliable performance when mounted on shipboard decks, cabin roofs, or mast bases exposed to extreme weather, salt spray, and continuous vibration.
Key Features:
• High-Speed Automatic Tuning: Rapid relay tuning matches frequencies in 2 to 3 seconds for new channels and ~150 ms for stored memory channels.
• Compact & Lightweight Build: Weighs only 3.5 kg with a compact base unit, making it ideal for space-restricted marine installations.
• Rugged IP55 & MIL-STD-810-G Design: Built with dust-protection and water-jet resistance to withstand harsh marine environments.
• Low Power Consumption: Consumes a minimal 0.4 A typical current drain, operating on standard 13.8V DC transceiver power.
• Broad Icom Transceiver Integration: Connects seamlessly with Icom HF radios (such as IC-F8101, IC-7300, IC-718, and IC-7610) via control cable.
