The Tron SMARTDEC GMDSS Tester is a compact portable test instrument supplied by AMI Marine and manufactured by Jotron AS, Norway, for testing and verifying the operation of maritime distress and communication equipment. It is designed for onboard and service-engineer use and can test devices including EPIRBs, AIS-EPIRBs, AIS-SARTs, AIS equipment and VDR acoustic pingers. The current Jotron version also supports additional radio and distress-device testing functions through software updates.
