The Samyung SAR-9 is a 9 GHz X-band Radar SART used to assist search-and-rescue vessels in locating lifeboats and liferafts. When interrogated by an X-band radar, the unit responds with a characteristic series of radar sweeps, allowing the survival craft to be identified on the rescuer’s radar display. Samyung states that the SAR-9 is designed to meet relevant IMO/GMDSS requirements.
