The Jotron Tron SART20 is a compact 9 GHz X-band Search & Rescue Radar Transponder designed for use on lifeboats and liferafts. When interrogated by an X-band radar from a nearby rescue vessel, aircraft, or search-and-rescue unit, the SART responds with a distinctive radar indication that helps rescuers determine the location of the survival craft.
The unit is designed for quick deployment in an emergency and can be installed using a bulkhead bracket, lifeboat bracket, or liferaft mounting pole. Jotron states that the Tron SART20 complies with applicable IMO/SOLAS/GMDSS requirements and has MED and other approvals
