The Lilley & Gillie Walker 2080 Mk2 is a high-precision, solid-state wind speed and direction measurement system manufactured by John Lilley & Gillie Ltd. (Walker Marine Technology) in the United Kingdom. Utilizing the P292 solid-state ultrasonic wind sensor masthead, the 2080 Mk2 contains no moving parts to wear out, delivering reliable, maintenance-free operation in harsh ocean environments.
The sensor head connects directly to the DIN 144 P1249 bridge indicator, displaying relative wind speed in digital format alongside wind direction on both a digital readout and a simulated analog 72-LED/OLED circular display ring. Generating NMEA 0183 serial data directly from the masthead unit, the Walker 2080 Mk2 integrates seamlessly into vessel radar, ECDIS, VDR, and bridge navigation networks.
Key Features:
• Solid-State Ultrasonic Masthead: Contains no mechanical cups or vanes, eliminating mechanical wear and calibration drift.
• Dual Digital & Simulated Analog Display: P1249 DIN 144 bridge indicator displays digital wind speed alongside a 72-segment LED circular direction ring.
• Wide Measurement Range: Accurately measures wind speeds from 0 to 120 knots with ±2% accuracy and 360-degree direction tracking.
• Universal NMEA 0183 Output: Outputs standard IEC 61162-1 / IEC 61162-2 serial data ($WIMWV) for direct integration into bridge systems.
• Direct Upgrade Path: Interoperable with existing Walker P296 masthead installations for quick swap-out replacement.
• True Wind Compatible: Integrates with the optional Walker P1066 True Wind Interface Unit to calculate true wind speed and direction.
