The AMI GS820 Transmitting Magnetic Compass (TMC) is a universal magnetic compass transmission system that converts the heading from a conventional magnetic compass into a digital NMEA 0183 heading output. Using a high-sensitivity sensor coil mounted on the compass, the GS820 enables interfacing with modern navigation equipment such as AIS, ECDIS, Radar, Autopilot, Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) and heading repeaters. The system includes a configurable control unit with numerical or steering-strip heading display, making it suitable for both new installations and retrofit applications.
