The JMC GPE-100 is a professional-grade GPS E-Compass (Electronic Compass) and GNSS Smart Antenna. Unlike standard single-antenna GPS units that only provide heading while the vessel is moving, the GPE-100 utilizes an integrated electronic compass chip and high-precision sensors to provide a stable, “true” heading even when the ship is stationary or drifting at low speeds.
The GPE-100 is an all-in-one sensor housing that combines a 72-channel GNSS receiver with a 9-axis motion sensor (3-axis gyro, 3-axis accelerometer, and 3-axis magnetic sensor). It is specifically designed to provide high-speed heading data for chart plotter heading lines, radar overlays, and sonar orientation.
Key Features
-
10 Hz Heading Output: Provides rapid, smooth heading updates (10 times per second), essential for high-speed radar stabilization and autopilot performance.
-
9-Axis Motion Sensor: Features a built-in 3-axis gyro-sensor, 3-axis accelerometer, and 3-axis magnetic sensor to compensate for vessel motion and magnetic interference.
-
Multi-GNSS Reception: Tracks GPS, QZSS (Japan), and SBAS (WAAS/EGNOS/MSAS) constellations simultaneously using 72 channels.
-
Dual NMEA 0183 Ports: Features two dedicated output ports that can be configured for different baud rates, allowing it to send position (GGA/RMC) to one device and high-speed heading (HDT) to another.
-
Roll & Pitch Data: Provides real-time attitude data, which can be useful for stabilizing sonar beams and other motion-sensitive equipment.
-
Maintenance-Free: No moving parts like a traditional gyrocompass, making it highly resistant to vibrations and mechanical wear.
