The Simrad MARIS ECDIS900 MK5A with M5027 is a modular, split-unit IMO type-approved ECDIS system designed for SOLAS-regulated commercial vessels. Unlike the all-in-one panel PC design of the MK15/MK16 series, the MK5A uses a dedicated maritime computer unit paired with the Simrad M5027 27-inch widescreen marine monitor.
This split system architecture provides extra flexible mounting options for larger bridge consoles, radar overlays, and multi-workstation Paperless ECDIS (PLECDIS) setups.
Split-Unit Processing: Separates the processing engine (MK5 PC) from the 27-inch display, reducing heat buildup inside display consoles and simplifying maintenance or upgrades.
Simrad M5027 Widescreen Display: Features a 27-inch, color-calibrated marine monitor with Full HD resolution ($1920 \times 1080\text{ px}$) or WUXGA depending on mode, anti-glare glass, and full dimming control.
Windows-Based Navigation UI: Operates on a dedicated Windows platform using standard mouse/trackball navigation, drop-down menus, and quick-action toolbars.
Advanced Navigation Modules: Built-in modules include Search and Rescue (SAR) planning, position prediction, docking assistance, parallel indexing, and voyage planning with Under Keel Clearance (UKC) calculation.
Multi-Node Network Architecture: Supports dual or triple ECDIS900 station links for full Paperless ECDIS (PLECDIS) redundancy with synchronized routes and chart databases.
