The Furuno FM-4800 is a professional, high-performance Marine VHF Radiotelephone that Furuno classifies as a “5-in-1” tool. Unlike its “Black Box” sibling (the FM-4850), the FM-4800 is an all-in-one fixed-mount unit with a built-in display and keypad, making it ideal for helm stations where a traditional radio interface is preferred.

It integrates a VHF Radio, Class D DSC, AIS Receiver, GPS Receiver, and a Loud Hailer/Fog Horn into a single chassis.

• All-In-One Interface: Features a high-contrast monochrome dot-matrix display and rotary knob for easy menu navigation and channel selection.

• Built-in AIS Receiver: Monitors nearby AIS-equipped vessels and can share that data with your MFD (like NavNet TZtouch or Raymarine Axiom) via NMEA 2000 to overlay targets on your chart.

• Integrated 72-Channel GPS: Includes a built-in GPS antenna. If the radio is flush-mounted or placed where it cannot see the sky, it supports an optional external GPS antenna (GPA-017).

• Loud Hailer & Listen Back: Includes a 30W amplifier for use with an external horn speaker. The “Listen Back” feature allows the horn to act as a microphone, bringing cockpit or deck sounds into the cabin.

• Dual Station Capability: By adding the optional HS-4800 handset, you can create a second station with full radio control and intercom functionality—perfect for a flybridge or tuna tower.

• Smart DSC Integration: When networked with a Furuno MFD, you can initiate a DSC call to an AIS target simply by selecting the target on your plotter and tapping “DSC Call.”
