The Furuno IC-306 Alarm Unit is a specialized, compact bridge alert module used in conjunction with Furuno Inmarsat-C Mobile Earth Stations (including the FELCOM 15, 16, 18, and 19 systems).
The primary interface on the front of this unit is the prominent [ALARM RESET] button, which contains an integrated status lamp.
The unit triggers an audible beep and causes the internal lamp inside the [ALARM RESET] button to flash under two specific conditions: when an incoming priority telex or email is received by the terminal, or when an external equipment failure is detected.
Silencing the Audio (The Button Press): Pressing the physical [ALARM RESET] button on the panel immediately silences the audible alarm tone. However, the light will continue to flash to visually maintain the alert condition.
Clearing the Visual Flash: To fully turn off the flashing light indicator once the alert has been recognized, the operator must clear it from the main GMDSS terminal workstation by pressing the [F10] key on the terminal unit’s keyboard.
