The Garmin GT8HW-IH In-Hull Mount Transducer is a specialized sonar solution designed for fiberglass boats that need to maintain clear depth readings at very high speeds. Because it is mounted inside the hull, it is completely protected from external damage, marine growth, and the turbulence (cavitation) that can affect transom-mounted units.
This transducer uses High-Wide CHIRP technology, which is perfect for shallow-water anglers who want the clearest possible fish arches and the best target separation available in a shoot-through-hull design.
In-Hull Design: Installed inside the boat, allowing the signal to travel through a solid fiberglass hull. This keeps the exterior of your boat “clean” and protects the transducer from impact.
High-Wide CHIRP (145–240 kHz): Provides a wide beam angle (24°) that covers more of the water column, making it easier to find and track fish in shallower depths.

Hull Requirements: This unit must be installed in a solid fiberglass hull. It requires a relatively flat section of the hull with a deadrise of less than 6°.
High-Speed Performance: It is excellent for boats traveling at high speeds that need to maintain a consistent bottom lock.
Hybrid Configurations: It can be used in conjunction with a scanning transducer (like a GT30-TM) via an adapter cable. This allows for high-speed depth readings from the in-hull unit and scanning capabilities at trolling speeds from the transom unit.
