The LSD-50P-100FID2 acts as a heavy-duty “electronic relay” or bridge. It takes the low-power steering commands from the Autopilot and uses high-speed MOSFET switching technology to deliver high-amperage power to the drive motor.
Electrical Isolation: The primary input (from the autopilot) and the secondary drive (to the motor) are electrically isolated to protect the autopilot’s sensitive electronics from power surges or motor interference.
No Mechanical Parts: Because it uses solid-state MOSFETs rather than mechanical relays, there are no contacts to wear out or spark, ensuring a much longer lifespan and faster response times.
