The Marine Data MD69/24 is a complete deck-mounted Pelorus Pedestal Bearing Compass Repeater Assembly manufactured in the United Kingdom by Marine Data Systems. Designed for commercial, naval, and merchant vessels, the MD69/24 provides a precise, dual-scale NMEA-based digital heading repeater housed within a fully gimbaled deck pedestal layout for taking accurate visual bearings of celestial bodies, landmarks, and target vessels.
The assembly features a high-visibility dual-scale (outer 360° and inner high-resolution 10° expanded scale) compass card display with adjustable red LED backlighting for night operation. Mounted on a heavy-duty, marine-grade aluminum alloy pedestal with internal anti-vibration dampening, the MD69/24 accepts standard NMEA 0183 heading data feeds from shipboard gyrocompasses, GPS satellite compasses, or magnetic heading sensors.
Key Features:
• Complete Pelorus Bearing Solution: Integrated deck pedestal, dual-gimbal ring assembly, and dual-scale compass repeater head designed for open-deck navigation wings.
• High-Accuracy Dual-Scale Display: Clear dual-concentric 360° and high-magnification inner dial layout for precise heading reads and bearing measurements.
• Rugged Deck-Mount Pedestal: Constructed from marine-grade aluminum alloy with corrosion-resistant polyurethane coating and internal cable routing.
• Universal NMEA 0183 Compatibility: Automatically senses and decodes NMEA 0183 heading sentences ($HDT, $HDG, $HDM, $THS) from gyrocompasses and satellite compasses.
• Adjustable Night Illumination: Variable dimming control for glare-free red backlight operation during night watches on the bridge wings.
