The Tengfei MCS-20 is a specialized Magnetic Compass Pick-up Sensor (also known as a Fluxgate Sensor) designed to modernize traditional analog magnetic compasses.

Its primary function is to “read” the magnetic heading from a standard liquid compass and convert it into a digital NMEA 0183 signal. This allows old-school magnetic compasses to provide heading data to modern electronics like AIS, Radar, and Autopilots.

The magnetic compass sensor measures the magnetic field range and is mounted on the surface of the magnetic compass. It converts the compass heading signal into NMEA01830 digital signal output for other electronic devices such as AIS, radar, etc. It can also be used as a simple electronic compass. When selecting, choose the FURUNO AD-10 format for output to all FURUNO radar devices.
